We fell short of expectations in 2023-2024 season, concedes Homeboyz skipper Mudavadi

The team blew hot and cold in the league and failed to go past the quarterfinals of the Mozzart Bet Cup

Following a spectacular finish to the 22/23 Kenya Federation Premier League season, in which Homeboyz capped off the year by winning their first major top flight title, the Mozzart Bet Cup, and gracing continental football, the club faced high expectations for the recently finished season.

Homeboyz, Bandari, Posta Rangers, and KCB, were all expected to rival Gor Mahia in the race for the 23/24 FKF Premier League title.

At one point in the early stages of the campaign, Homeboyz were on top of their game, winning five matches in a row to extend their fine run to eight matches without losing.

However, their 2-1 loss to the AFC Leopards late last year was their turning point, towards the wrong direction , as the team never enjoyed such kind of success again in the season.

After the defeat to Ingwe, Homeboyz suffered back-to-back losses to City Stars and Kenya Police.

Worse for Homeboyz they were tossed out of the cup by KCB in the quarterfinals.

Homeboyz captain Moses Mudavadi recognized the team's shortcomings in the just-concluded season, claiming it was not one of their best seasons.

"It has not been a good campaign for the team; generally, we had hoped to improve our performance from the previous season considering we had a great campaign; nonetheless, I must admit the end of the season was not one of our best," he said.

Mudavadi believes that Homeboyz will make amends in the new season if the management brings in new players.

"I believe it wasn't our year, considering we had a capable squad to perform. Hopefully, with a few crucial additions to the team, I am convinced we will significantly enhance our performance next season compared to the one that just ended," he added.
