Defending champions are in a serious problem ahead of the start of the new edition of the most prominent football competition in Europe
Just as the season got underway, Paris Saint-Germain have been hit with two major setbacks. Star winger Ousmane Dembele and rising talent Desire Doue will both miss a significant run of games after picking up injuries on international duty with France against Ukraine on Friday night.
The debate in France is already raging over whether the blame lies with the club or the national team, but for coach Luis Enrique, the focus is on how to reorganise his attack without two key wide men.
Dembele's injury is the more serious: a hamstring problem that will sideline him for at least six weeks. He'll miss Ligue 1 clashes with Lens, Marseille, Lille, Strasbourg, and Nice, as well as PSG's Champions League tests - home games against Atalanta and Bayern, plus trips to Barcelona and Leverkusen.
Doue is facing a four-week layoff with a calf issue, meaning he'll be back after the next international break - likely in time for Strasbourg on October 17.
Meanwhile, France boss Didier Deschamps has called up Kingsley Coman as cover for Tuesday's qualifier against Iceland.
