Lameck Onyango's side will need a Ugandan favor as they face South Africa

Semifinal slots will be up for grabs for three Kenyan teams when they take the field in the 14th Edition of the African Games in Accra, Ghana on Wednesday 20 March.

First off, will be the Kenya men’s cricket side, who will hope to secure a win against the hosts - Ghana - in a must-win fixture at the Achimota Senior Secondary School B Field.

Kenya, after falling to rivals Uganda by 91 runs on the opening day of the event, picked themselves up with a 70-run victory over South Africa, and now have the prospect of making Thursday’s semifinals, but will need one favor to go their way.

Occupying third place in Pool A with two points, Kenya will need Uganda - the leaders of the group with four points - to beat second-placed South Africa - also on two points - so as to get a place to finish in the top two.

Kenya, who hold a minimal net-run-rate as compared to South Africa, will however need to handle their business first, and will hope that the heroics of young bowler Aarnav Patel - who picked five wickets against South Africa - will persist, as will those of opener Collins Obuya who totaled 59 runs in his innings.

The game bowls off at 1230 EAT.

On the court, Kenya men’s volleyball side - Wafalme Stars - will seek to extend their unbeaten run in the competition when they come up against Burkina Faso in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.

Kenya, who are aiming to go further than their bronze medal win in 2011, have been on scintillating form, dismissing all of Chad, Ghana and Gambia, and will face a Burkina Faso side winless in all their pool games, having lost to Egypt, Nigeria and Cameroon.

In hockey, Kenya’s hockey side - Blades - will be in the hunt for a finals appearance when they take on Nigeria in an all-stakes final group match, that in the event of a win, book a place in the gold-medal match against Ghana, who are unbeaten thus far.

Kenya on Sunday opened their account on the losing end, falling 4-1 to Ghana, but will have a chance to make amends at the DB Dome Borteyman Stadium.
