The federation has been marred by chaos and power struggles, most notably over the past two years, prompting the intervention of both the Ministry of Sports through Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya and the International Cricket Council.
According to the list published on Wednesday, 1 April, two candidates, Tom Tikolo and Bhavesh Gohil, have been approved for the Chairperson position.
The approval comes as a relief for Gohil, who has been at the receiving end of the outgoing administration led by Manoj Patel.
Gohil was initially eyeing the Vice Chairperson position alongside David Obuya before changing his mind and setting his eyes on the top seat.
Interestingly, only one candidate, Pearlyne Omamo, has been cleared for the Vice Chairperson and will therefore assume the seat unopposed.
In the powerful treasurer position, Alfred Njuguna Njoroge and Chidambaran Subramanian will face off.
The position of Director, County Associations has also seen Damian Omonywa and Vidya Chandrasekar as the only two candidates cleared to contest for the position.
Popular deaf Cricket champion Charity Chicha Wambui has been cleared to vie for the Director, Women's Cricket position and will face off with Sarah Kemunto Mayaka.
Peculiarly, Cricket Kenya treasurer Kalpesh Solanki has been barred from contesting in the elections.
“The IEP has determined that Kalpesh Solanki is ineligible to contest in the election pursuant to Article 10.5(g) of the Cricket Kenya Constitution, on the basis that he is currently serving a one (1) year suspension effective 24 May 2025, imposed by SGM Resolution dated the same day.
Accordingly, his nomination is hereby disqualified and rejected. This determination is made in accordance with the Cricket Kenya Constitution and applicable electoral regulations governing eligibility for participation in elections,” reads the letter from the electoral body.
The electoral body also went ahead to explain the dispute resolution mechanism relating to the elections.
“Any party aggrieved by a determination of eligibility or ineligibility made by the IEP may lodge a written objection with the Panel within five (5) days of publishing of this notice, in accordance with the Cricket Kenya National Election Regulations 2026.
The decision of the IEP arising from any objections shall be final for purposes of the electoral process, without prejudice to any further rights provided under the Constitution of Cricket Kenya or applicable.”
