Kenya hockey men’s national team jets out for FIH Hockey 5’s World Cup

The inaugural FIH Hockey 5's World Cup is set for 28th to 31st January

The Kenya Hockey 5’s national team jetted out of the country on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10 pm for the inaugural FIH Hockey 5’s World Cup that will be played from the 28th to the 31st of January 2024 in Muscat, Oman.

Kenya Hockey Union president Nashon Randiek leads the team as the Team Manager and head of the delegation, head coach Michael Malungu will be assisted by Kevin Lugalia, Michael Mwanyamba, and Carole Okoth are the physiotherapist and team doctor respectively.

The final traveling squad for the World Cup includes goalkeepers Samuel Silong from USIU-A Mashujaa and Newton Shibachi from Western Jaguars. The outfield players selected for the tournament are Moses Muigai, Ivan Ludiali, Richard Njuki, Bethuel Masambu, Sheldon Kipruto all from Western Jaguars, Danstone Wabwire from USIU-A Mashujaa, Kennedy Munialo, and Moses Ademba from Butali Warriors.

In an additional honor for Kenya, Esther Adolwa is set to add an extra layer of Kenyan representation as she takes on the role of a technical official at the FIH Hockey 5’s World Cup.

The team's fixtures for the group stage are as follows

28th January:

New Zealand vs Kenya (11:10 am EAT)

Trinidad & Tobago vs Kenya (5:50 pm EAT)

29th January:

Australia vs Kenya (1200 hrs)
