
Kenya Hockey Union names 13-man squad for historic FIH Hockey 5’s World Cup debut

The list, submitted to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Tournament Management System, will debut in the FIH Hockey 5’s World Cup set for Oman from January 24th to 31st
As anticipation builds for the inaugural FIH Hockey 5’s World Cup scheduled to be played in Oman from January 24th to 31st, the Kenya Hockey Union has officially released the provisional 13-player squad set to represent the nation on the global stage.
The list, submitted to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Tournament Management System, will make history with a remarkable debut in the FIH Hockey 5’s World Cup as they embark on their campaign in the dynamic and fast-paced Hockey format. With their eyes set on success, the Mike Malungu-coached side is gearing up for their first match on January 28th against New Zealand at 11:10 am EAT.

Confident in the capabilities of his squad, Malungu has set ambitious goals for the tournament, expressing a clear desire to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Acknowledging the formidable competition within their group, which includes hockey powerhouses Australia and New Zealand, Malungu emphasized the critical importance of a strong start, particularly in their opening clash against New Zealand.
"We are in a very competitive group that has top-playing countries like Australia and New Zealand, but it’s the first edition of the competition, and we have to be competitive as we aim to get to the semi-finals," said Malungu.
