The Kenya Volleyball Federation has announced the men’s and women's national team provisional squads for the upcoming African Games.
KVF announced a 20-man squad for the men’s team christened as Wafalme Stars with 18 being included in the women’s team Malkia Strikers for the Games will run through March 8-23 in Accra Ghana.
Highlighting the players who are making a return to the Malkia Strikers team is the duo of Meldine Sande and Delphine Misoki.
The two, who are attached to Kenya Prisons missed the Zone Five Qualifiers held in Egypt last month.
The multi-talented Sande last featured for the national team during the 2022 FIVB World Championships in Netherlands.
Misoki will hope to make it to the Games after she dropped from the Zone V Qualifiers in favour of the experienced Elizabeth Wanyama who provided cover to Agrippina Kundu.
Notable omissions were the reliable duo of Veronicah Adhiambo and Sharon Chepchumba.
The two missed the qualifiers with Chepchumba being overlooked due to a knee injury she suffered while in action for her club, PAOK Thessaloniki of Greece.
Adhiambo on the other hand, was reportedly given room to concentrate on club duties. The former DCI outside hitter is attached to Tarsus Belediyespor of Turkey.
While Malkia Strikers will have to do without the services of the two foreign-based players, the Wafalme bench named opposite attackers Enock Mogeni and Abiud Chirchir to the team.
The two missed the qualifiers in Egypt where Kenya finished second behind the host nation.
