Nairobi Water Queens are looking yo begin the season on high, retaining the KHF Super Cup title.

Following her stellar performance at the East and Central Africa Handball Federation Senior Club Championships (ECAHF) Championships where she was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), Brenda Ariviza says she is motivated to achieve more in her career.

Her performance at the Championship held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania saw her named the sports personality of the month of December beating among others swimmer Victoria Okumu and marathoner Lawrence Cherono to the award.

Ariviza admits that her award has pilled pressure on her, in a good way, to prove herself and achieve more for her side Nairobi Water Queens.

"After such an honour of being named the sports personality for December, all eyes will be on me and my team by extension as the new season begins.

We have defended the league, the ECAHF title and have our eyes set to defending the Super Cup title which will be no easy task. We have a target on our backs and will need to work harder and smarter to retain the title," said Ariviza upon receiving her award at Nyayo Stadium.

The women's Super Cup will be held in a round-robin format. Queens face a tough opponent in Ulinzi Sharks who will be hoping to turn up the heat for Queens, just like they did in the regular league, and hope to do one better this time by dethroning the record time champions.

NCPB Ladies and military side Nanyuki who finished third and fourth respectively in the regular league that concluded last month are also in the race to upset the form book and start their 2022 season with a title.

"Personally I am motivated to do more in training, hit the gym and work with my team to get things right in the Super Cup. Beginning the season with a title is a good morale booster. As a team, we have one of the best squads in the league and a technical bench to boot. The same way we were able to handle these teams in the regular league, I believe we will employ similar tactics to lift the pre-season Super Cup trophy," added Ariviza.
