The victory marked Leos’ fourth consecutive triumph at the Embu 7s, a tournament they had dominated even before it was elevated into the National 7s Circuit.
With the increased competition and pressure, the students proved once again that they remain a formidable force in the shorter version of the game.
The final was a repeat of the Prinsloo 7s decider, which ended prematurely due to heavy rains with Strathmore declared winners.
The two sides had also clashed at the Driftwood 7s where KCB edged the Leos to claim the crown.
Referee Vincent Mwiruri, taking charge of his first National 7s Circuit final, had little time to settle into the game as Strathmore hit the ground running.
Nygel Amaitsa opened the scoring straight from the kickoff, racing clear to touch down, though the conversion went wide.
Barely a minute later, Victor Mola extended Leos’ lead after a fine buildup by Stanslus Shikoli, with Arnold Mwita adding the extras.
Gabriel Ayimba soon joined the scoresheet before Mwita converted another Leos try as the students stormed into a commanding lead.
KCB eventually found their footing through Floyd Wabwire, who finished off a move initiated by Brian Wahinya. Wahinya slotted in the conversion to give the Bankers a lifeline heading into the break.
The second half brought drama as Strathmore were reduced to six men following an infringement by Ayimba.
KCB capitalized on the numerical advantage, with Wabwire scoring twice in quick succession to close the gap to 24-21.
The Leos showed remarkable composure under pressure, sealing the win with a final try in the corner to make it 31-21 at fulltime, sparking wild celebrations from the fans.
In the third-place playoff, Menengai Oilers overpowered MMUST 31-0, with Alvin Khavoli, Brian Achacha, Makokha, Samuel Ovwamu, and Daniel Kipchirchir all getting on the scoresheet.
Meanwhile, in Division Two, Homeboyz lifted the title after a narrow 7-0 win over NYS Spades thanks to a try from Brian Juma. Homeboyz will be in the Division One of the Kabeberi 7s.
The women’s category saw Northern Suburbs dominate Kenya Harlequin with a 19-0 victory to clinch the trophy.
