The varsity side finished third last season behind champions KCB and Kabras Sugar
Louis ‘Fadhee’ Kisia, head coach of enterprising Kenya Cup outfit Strathmore Leos, has confidently stated that the time is nigh for his team to give big guns KCB and Kabras Sugar a run for their money when it comes to fighting for the league title.
Having just been promoted back to the top tier from the Championship in the 2020 season, the varsity side exceeded expectations upon their return as they finished third in the overall season after going all the way to the playoffs where they lost to Kabras Sugar in the semifinals.
Definitely a wonderful season for Leos! Third place isn't bad💪🏿

In the current 2021/2022 season, Leos’ head coach is hoping that his side can put their name up there with the very best as they seek to challenge the dominance that the two teams have put in the local rugby scene where the duo has played in the last four consecutive Kenya Cup finals without any real challenge from other teams.
"Rugby is basically a mind game sport and I read a quote from the new Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick that said, “even if we play with new players, it is important that we win. Winning is the best tool to gain confidence and keep momentum.” So, if we continue piling pressure and winning games, that momentum will boost the confidence of the players despite the calibre of teams we will be playing against. When that happens, even the big teams will trade cautiously when facing us,” the coach told Mozzart Sport.
If the start of the new season is anything to go by, Leos have started as they have meant to go, winning and gaining maximum points on both of their opening two matches as they sit joint top with Kabras Sugar on 10 points.
“So far so good. The boys have gelled and they are picking up the systems easily. Everything that we train during the week, we try and put in into practice on Saturdays and out of 100%, I can say we exploit around 80-85%. Not quite there but the boys have been soldiering on and we strive to go for maximum points in every match we play,” the coach remarked.
The boys put on a spirited fight against a formidable Mwamba side.
