The team are currently top of the standings having won their opening four games
Kabras Sugar’s South African head coach Jerome Muller has called on his title-chasing side to use the festive Kenya Cup break to prepare themselves for a mega battle when league action resumes on 8 January 2022.
Despite currently topping the Kenya Cup standings alongside Menengai Oilers having not lost any game in their opening four matches, Muller was quick to point out that his team’s performance in their last outing in 2020 against Resolution Impala Saracens was not suggestive enough of a side that left much to be desired.
However, while expressing his delight in the team managing to get over the line in the first four fixtures against Blak Blad, Top Fry Nakuru, Mwamba and Impala, the head coach stated that his team has to get back to work in order to sharpen on areas that might prove detrimental to them.
“For me, those were the easier fixtures and we need to brace ourselves for the big ones coming in the new year. I was not happy with the performance against Impala so we need to go sit down and fix it because we made a lot of mistakes despite the opponents also not allowing us to play. Our lineouts operated well, scrums did well but our play from set-pieces was not good. However, we managed a bonus point and we will take that,” the head coach remarked.
When the league resumes on Saturday 8 January 2022 after a three-week break, Kabras get back to action against record Kenya Cup champions Nondescripts before facing Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). They then take on Kenya Harlequin, Menengai Oilers, Strathmore Leos and Homeboyz before wrapping off the regular season against reigning champions KCB.
