Kabras Sugar is the only side that is yet to taste defeat this season. They handed defending champions KCB their first defeat of the season in their last fixture
Kabras Sugar will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2021 rugby season when they take on Mwamba RFC in the final game of a double header set to be played at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday afternoon. The weekend rugby action sees a total of five fixtures and ten teams taking centre stage. Here is a preview of the action.
Mwamba vs Kabras Sugar
Coming from a 20-18 defeat against Kenya Harlequin in their last fixture, Mwamba will need to work on their game if they are to cause an upset against an undefeated Kabras Sugar who beat defending champions KCB 30-23 in the clash of the favourites.
Having already confirmed their place in the semi finals, second placed Kabras will be aiming to extend their winning streak to eight games out of eight when they play Mwamba who are in second last place on the standings.
In the first of the two matches taking place at RFUEA Grounds, Kenya Harlequin will be looking to pile more misery on Blak Blad who sit at the bottom of the log. Blad have only won one game this season and have lost a joint high of six games. In their last clash, newbies MMUST condemned them to a 38-10 defeat.

Resolution Impala vs KCB
Current log leaders KCB will be aiming to get back to winning ways after suffering their first defeat of the season at the hands of Sisimka Cup winners Kabras in their last outing. To boost their chances of doing so, the Curtis Olago coached side have been boosted by the return of experienced Shujaa players who have been away at the just concluded Tokyo Olympics.
Bearing in mind that Impala came off a resilient midweek 30-24 win over Leos, the Bankers head coach expressed confidence in his team’s ability to nullify that momentum.
“It is a game like any other where we are going to play our level best and make sure we keep improving. The return of the experienced boys to the squad brings good psyche to the others because they have not been there with us the whole season so we are happy to have them back. It is a game of pressure and going into the game we expect pressure. I am sure we can respond to it, so I am not worried,” Olago said.

Menengai Oilers vs Strathmore Leos
Away in Nakuru, Louis Kisia’s Strathmore Leos will take on Menengai Oilers in the other double header taking place at the Nakuru Athletic Club. Despite losing their midweek clash against Impala, the varsity side jumped above Oilers and into third place after picking up two crucial points accrued from scoring four tries and losing within a seven point margin.
Heading into the match, retaining the third position is the most important task by the end of that game.
“We always take every game at a time. Oilers is definitely a formidable side. We will bank on having played during the week and the fact that they have not played for two weeks. Our aim as we sit third on the log is to ensure that we retain that position come what may. If worse comes to worse we will take a draw, but if everything goes according to plan, we will take the win. The objective is to make it to the semis as the third seed,” Kisia said.
