“The kick-off for the Women's Kenya Cup opener has been postponed. Stay tuned for the new dates!" read a statement from the country's governing body; KRU.
The 2023/24 Women’s Kenya Cup was set to begin on Saturday and conclude on April 4. It would feature eight participating teams.
Maseno University, Shamberere, and Rongo University are the latest additions to the league, expanding the roster alongside defending champions Mwamba, Impala, Northern Suburbs, Nakuru, and Western Spears.
The competition will adopt a one-off round-robin format, where each team plays the others once. The top four teams emerging from this phase will advance to the semi-finals.
In the 2022/23 season, Mwamba women staged an incredible comeback to come from 17-3 down at half-time before narrowly winning 20-21 against Impala in the final match played on March 11.
The victory saw the Joseph Baabu-coached side successfully defend their title and win their second consecutive Kenya Cup title.
