Kisia, who took over the reins at the Gazelles ahead of the 2024/25 season, confirmed that his contract expired in September and would not be renewed.
As a result, he will not be on the touchline when Impala face off in the third-place playoff of the Impala Floodlit Tournament on Saturday, 8 November.
“It is true I left Impala RFC after my contract expired in September,” Kisia told Mozzart Sport.
He went on to note that his focus has now fully shifted to his duties with the Kenya Sevens, who are gearing up for a busy 2025 season.
During his short stint, Kisia oversaw steady progress at Impala. He guided the side to the semifinals of the 2024 Impala Floodlit, where they finished runners-up after falling 41-7 to Menengai Oilers.
That momentum carried into their Kenya Cup campaign, where Impala narrowly avoided relegation, finishing 10th in the standings.
The relegation battle went down to the wire on Saturday, 8 March, with Impala securing key victories, including a decisive win over Kisumu RFC to remain in the top flight.
Ironically, the same head-to-head rule that saw Impala relegated three seasons ago came to their rescue this time around. Mwamba RFC and South Coast Pirates were the unfortunate sides to drop.
The club has since appointed George Ndemi as acting head coach as preparations begin for the 2025/26 season.
Before joining Impala, Kisia, known for his development-oriented coaching style, had an impressive run with Strathmore Leos, leading them to two Embu 7s titles and establishing them as one of the most competitive sides on the circuit.
Since he was appointed as Kenya Sevens assistant coach in August 2023, Kisia’s coaching career has been on an upward trajectory. Alongside best friend and head coach Kevin Wambua, he helped Shujaa bounce back from their first-ever relegation from the HSBC SVNS Series after 23 years.
The pair steered Kenya to victory at the Africa Men’s Sevens-cum-Olympic Qualifiers, stunning South Africa 17-12 to book a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
They then guided the team to another milestone in June 2024, reclaiming core status after defeating Germany 33-15 in the HSBC SVNS Series promotion playoffs.
