The club confirmed that the institute will provide a stable base for the operations, training, and match-day activities
Mwamba RFC players can finally breathe a sigh of relief after finally landing a training venue.
The club has partnered with Goan Institute, which will be their training ground from January 1 2025.
Announcing on their social media handles, the club confirmed that the institute will provide a stable base for the operations, training, and match-day activities.
The facility will serve as the home ground for both the men's and women's teams, competing across four leagues, and will host major events such as the iconic Kabeberi Sevens, scheduled between July and September 2025.
This collaboration highlights a shared commitment to fostering sports development, as Mwamba Rugby Club will fund and oversee pitch rehabilitation and maintenance to meet Kenya Rugby Union standards.
“Mwamba Rugby Football Club is proud to announce a new partnership with the Goan Institute, marking a significant milestone in the club’s journey after three years of searching for a permanent home following its exit from the historic Nairobi Railway Club.
This agreement, effective from January 1, 2025, provides a stable base for the club’s operations, training, and match-day activities.
The partnership encompasses a comprehensive agreement detailing access to the Goan Institute's sports facilities on designated days and times, ensuring the smooth continuation of Mwamba’s training programs and match-day schedules,” part of the statement read.
The club further confirmed that cricket programs at the institute will remain uninterrupted and the grounds will host two sports.
The partnership also includes provisions for secure parking, use of changing rooms, catering services, and pavilion access, creating a conducive environment for athletes and fans alike.
“Mwamba Rugby Club extends its gratitude to the Goan Institute for their support and looks forward to a fruitful partnership that will benefit not only the club but also the local community.
This new chapter underscores the club’s resilience and dedication to promoting rugby excellence and community engagement,” the statement concluded.
The team lost its training ground; Nairobi Railway Club in 2020 after the club vacated the venue to create room for a bus terminus and the intended Expressway from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Westlands.
That saw the rugby, football grounds, and the car bazaar grounds affected. Mwamba had been training on the grounds for 42 years before the shocker.
