Chebolei, Chepkemoi reign supreme in Agnes Tirop Memorial World Cross Country Gold Tour

The two were crowned the national champions three weeks ago

Samuel Chebolei and Joyce Chepkemoi displayed yet another masterclass of running as they clinched the Agnes Tirop Memorial World Cross Country Tour men and women's 10km races held at the Lobo Village course hardly three weeks after they were crowned the national champions.

The day long championship which attracted renowned from all quarters of the globe was the ultimate leg of the 14 World Cross Country Gold Tour series and was named after the slain Olympian. 

Chebolei cut the tape after 29:46 minutes ahead of Olympian Nicholas Kimeli who clocked 30:00. Michael Kibet settled for bronze after timing 30:10 after showing former World U20 5000m Stanley Waithaka clean pair of heels.

Chepkemoi on the other hand won the race in 34:02 minutes ahead of World 5000m silver medalist Margaret Kipkemboi who also settled for silver in the nationals.

Nespine Jepleting was third after clocking 34:22 while Beatrice Chebet was fourth in 34:33. Viola Chepngeno was fifth after timing 34:40 minutes.

In the men's junior 8km race, Shadrack Chirchir reigned supreme after timing 23:55 minutes with Gideon Rono settling for silver in 24:02. Dennis Kipkirui made it to the podium after timing 24:10.

In the girl's category that was two kilometers shorter of the boys' one, World 1500m U20 champion Purity Chepkirui won after clocking 20:49 minutes. Lucy Nduta was second in 21:09 minutes with Faith Cherotich coming in third in 21:18.

Joyline Chepkemoi won the girl's U18 five kilometers race in 18:05 with Maureen Jepkoech and Pamela Kosgei coming in second and third in 18:14 and 18:26 respectively.

Samuel Kirui scooped good in the boys' category in 18:15 ahead of Vincent Maiyo and Charles Rotich who were second and third respectively.
