Africa's fastest man gets off the Paris Olympics blocks today as Malkia Strikers take on Japan
After suffering heartbreak on Friday evening, Kenyans will hope that Ferdinand Omanyala will give them something to smile when the 100m action gets underway.
There were hopes that the men’s 10000m team would deliver the first medal but the best we had was a fifth-place finish by Bernard Kibet.
There is no time to cry over spilled milk as Saturday is filled with what is expected to be exciting races and matches.
Omanyala will take to the blocks at 12:55 pm, Kenyan time. Luckily, the sprinter will not be taking part in the preliminaries.
Before Omanyala’s race, Maria Brunlehner will be in action at noon.
Kenyans can not afford to take their eyes off the screens as Vivian Chebet will hope to qualify for the semis of the 800m in the repechage race at 12:20 pm.
Afterward, Malkia Strikers will take to the court at 2 pm against Japan in their final group stage match.
Malkia, who have lost all their matches will hope to sign out with at least a set.
