
Second DL victory for Kipsang as Chebet settles for bronze

World Indoor 1500m bronze medalist Abel Kipsang continues his stellar performance in the distance, picking a fourth consecutive victory in all his appearances with a win at the Birmingham Diamond League (DL).
Kipsang who opened the Wanda DL with victory in Doha nine days ago clocked 3:35.15 to finish ahead of Spain's Katir Mohamed who managed 3:35.62 while Hoare Oliver completed the podium places in 3:35.76.

Meawhile, Kenya's Winny Chebet clocked 4:05.56 for third place in the women's 1500m won by Laura Muir in 4:02.81. Second place went to Jessica Hull in 4:03.42.
“To come here and win in my first race of the season I am really happy,” Muir told Athletics Weekly. “The win was more important than the time in my first race especially as it was quite windy out there. It was solid and running from the front too."
She continued, "I am looking forward to getting my first sub-four this year but happy to nail the World Champs standard early in the season. There were no natural front runners in the race so I thought I needed to be prepared to take it out.”

Meanwhile, Dawit Seyaum strode away from fellow Ethiopians Hawi Feysa and Fantu Worku in the last 200m of the women's 5000m to win in a meeting record of 14:47.55.
Francine Niyonsaba was a late withdrawal due to travel problems. Feysa clocked 14:48.94 while Worku managed 14:49.64.
