Armand "Mondo" Duplantis once again pushed the boundaries in the pole vault, winning the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. The Swedish superstar jumped 6.30 meters, breaking his own world record for the 14th time in his career so far!
This is also Duplantis's third consecutive gold medal at the world championships, after triumphs in Budapest in 2023 and Eugene (Oregon) in 2022.

The Greek Emanuil Karalis won the silver medal with 6.00 meters, while the bronze went to the Australian Curtis Marshall, who jumped 5.95 meters.
For Duplantis, the height of six meters was enough for gold, but he wanted to push the limits. He couldn't get over the bar at 6.30 twice, but the third time it stayed in place, although it shook a fair bit. He got himself a deserved standing ovation from the audience in the capital of Japan.
Victory in Japan extends his unbeaten streak to 37 competitions, stretching back to July 2023.
The US-born Swede, who chose to represent his mother's homeland, has not lost a major final since Doha in 2019, where as a teenager he missed out to American Sam Kendricks on countback.
