The Forest owner managed to trick Daniel Levy in the end
Evangelos Marinakis couldn’t rest until he ruined Tottenham’s deal. Everything had been well planned by the London club, but what they intended simply won’t go through. Morgan Gibbs-White was knocking on Tottenham’s door, he was “as good as signed.” Reports from England said: just the medical left, and it’s done. Well, not anymore — the owner of Nottingham Forest dug in his heels and decided to wreck everything.

And now it’s official: Morgan Gibbs-White 2028. Nottingham Forest proudly announced that their playmaker had signed a record-breaking contract. They didn’t reveal the exact terms, but that’ll come out soon enough. The deal is signed and sealed, confirmed with a photo of Morgan Gibbs-White and Evangelos Marinakis. The Greek owner smiled right in the face of Tottenham and the people running the London club, led by Daniel Levy.
A 69,000,000 euros transfer was on the verge of completion, but it won’t happen. Even the medical exam, supposedly already scheduled, has been canceled. What upset Nottingham Forest’s owner was that Tottenham had somehow obtained the buyout clause of the England international. He launched certain legal proceedings and pressured the player into signing a new contract. The previous deal was valid until 2027 — the new one extends it by 12 months, and the player, who had previously drawn interest from Manchester City (before they signed Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders), will continue his stay at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest, like any club, could have used the money Tottenham was offering. But they had already suffered a major loss: Anthony Elanga was sold to Newcastle for 61,400,000, leaving Nuno Espírito Santo without a key piece. Losing another important player might have seriously disrupted the system. The Tricky Trees weren’t ready for that. They’ve kept one of their main men and sabotaged the plans of Daniel Levy and his associates.
