Leopards took the lead in the 13th minute through Hassan Beja before Drona Openda drew Mara level in the half hour mark.
Captain Victor Omune grabbed a controversial winner for Ingwe in the 62nd minute.
Speaking to the press after the match, Ambani opened up on the second half tactical tweak that ensured they grab maximum points.
“We were playing shot passes in the first half which were exposing us to counter attacks when we lost the ball and so we had to shift to breaking the lines.
In the second half, I told Tyson (Otieno) and Kelly (Madada) to stop the short passes and start engaging them on dribbles which helped us to break the lines and get goals,” revealed Ambani.
The former Wazito FC tactician also remained adamant that the 1998 league champions still harbor title hopes, despite losing ground to their arch-rivals Gor Mahia.
“From the reaction of players, we are taking the race to the wire which is healthy for the league. We are taking every game as a final,” he added.
