Ange's minute-long perfect storm kills the Bees, City routinely roll over Burnley

Reading Time: 3min | Thu. 01.02.24. | 00:50

Tottenham come from behind to beat Brentford 3-2, while the reigning champion had no issue whatsoever with Vincent Kompany's side (3-1)

We can't help but wonder what could have happened if Ange Postecoglou had all of his assets available during the previous few months. Because even this injury-torn Spurs squad - with Heung-min Son also unavailable due to his duties at the AFC Asian Cup - is such a pleasure to watch.

Even when they trail like tonight against Brentford at home.

Ange's boys managed to bounce back after conceding an early one from Thomas Frank's side on Wednesday night to celebrate a deserved 3-2 win.

The game's momentum shifted, and the entire clash was decided inside a minute. First, Destiny Udogie levelled the score in the 48th minute; the Bees went to centre, lost the ball, and a perfectly executed counter saw Brennan Johnson taping it in thanks to a superb Timo Werner cross.

Potent Richarlison made it 3-1 to put his team two goals up before Toney exploited Udogie's horrible mistake to peg one back, 3-2.

Deep into stoppage time, Baptiste found himself in a clear-cut chance inside the rival's area, but his effort went over the bar.

Unlike Spurs, Manchester City and its fans enjoyed a pleasant, stress-free night as they brushed aside Vincent Kompany's Burnley at the Etihad. Within the first 22 minutes, Julian Alvarez's brace removed all the tension and allowed Pep Guardiola to sit back and relax.

The Cityzen's captain, Rodri, killed the game with his trademark goal, slotting it superbly from the edge of the box. The visitors added one more to the scoresheet near the final whistle but stood no chance against the confident holders, who proved they're taking no prisoners in this EPL campaign.
