Mutinda suffered a knee injury in the cup defeat to Kariobangi Sharks.

KCB midfield lynchpin Michael Mutinda is set to miss the next three weeks of action and three league games after picking up a knee injury.

The former Thika United midfielder suffered a knee injury in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup defeat to Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday 6 June.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Mutinda revealed that he set to lay on the treatment table for at least three weeks after knee strain.

“I picked up an injury in the cup defeat to Kariobangi Sharks, I was trying to pull out of a tackle in order to protect my other knee that got injured before but unfortunately I landed awkwardly,”

“I’m still out injured but the doctor gave me a three weeks timeline to return back to action in order to avoid further injuries,” said Mutinda

Mutinda has been struggling with knee injuries this season as the same injury ruled him out of the Harambee Stars African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt and Togo.

The tenacious midfielder however revealed that he is set to commence his rehabilitation after receiving encouraging news that he does not have to go under the knife.

“I went to the doctor but after an MRI scan I was told I do not need to go for surgery because the strain was not that serious,”

“I am set to begin rehabilitation soon because I just received a letter from the doctor on Tuesday allowing me to commence the rehab,” added Mutinda.

He is set to miss clashes against Mathare United, Kakamega Homeboyz and Nzoia Sugar FC.
