Another Xavi at Tottenham - Barca legend to replace Frank on Spurs' hot seat?

Considering the North London side's terrible start to the ongoing Premier League campaign, its management has reportedly found a gigantic name to succeed the current boss

Tottenham are in for the worst start of a Premier League campaign in the last 17 years. In the 2008/2009 campaign, they picked up 18 points in the opening 16 rounds, and this season's tally after the same number of games played is only four points better.

Following the latest crushing defeat to Nottingham Forest (3-0), the fans are furious, and someone has to take responsibility. Usually, that someone is the manager.

Thomas Frank hasn't been sacked yet, and he may even start the new year in the dugout - who knows - but rumours have it that Spurs' management have already aimed a gigantic football name supposed to replace the Dane.

During the previous June Transfer Window, the North London side won a fierce "negotiation battle" and signed Xavi Simons, and now, they could bring in the Dutchman's namesake and Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez!

The 45-year-old has been unemployed since April 2024 when he was sacked from Barcelona, and turning Tottenham's season around would be a great challenge and an outstanding achievement. Before the Catalans, Xavi coached the Qatari Al-Sadd for two years and won seven trophies with them.

During his managerial stint at Camp Nou, Barca won La Liga and Supercopa de Espana (both in 2023), and cultivated an appealing and efficient playing style - something Spurs desperately need.

At the same time, Xavi's huge name in football terms would appease and temporarily calm the fans, ensuring some peace to the club's management.
