The dockers turn their attention to their next league assignment against four-time league champion Ulinzi Stars

Bandari were frustrated to a barren draw by Tanzanian Premier League side Coastal Union in a friendly match played at the Mbaraki grounds on Saturday, 9 September, afternoon.

The two clubs took advantage of the FIFA international week to renew their rivalry, with nothing to separate them after the full-time whistle was blown.

The visiting side had to do without the services of their first-choice goalkeeper, Justin Ndikumana who missed the clash as he is part of the Burundi national team.

Burundi are scheduled to play Cameroon on Tuesday in the final group C match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Interestingly, Ndikumana joined Coastal Union in January from Bandari, who also lost their former skipper, Felly Mulumba, to the Tanzanian club.

Former Kakamega Homeboyz forward Yema Mwamba also joined Union in January. Mwamba’s name was missing when the club released its squad for the current season.

Bandari beat Coastal Union 1-0 in July this year at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga, where Burundian international Shassiri Nahimana scored the match-winning goal.

The two teams have a rich history of playing friendly matches whenever time allows.

Bandari beat the Tanzanian club 3-0 at Mbaraki in October 2021, hardly a month after the start of the 2021–2022 FKF PL season.

The dockers turn their attention to their next league assignment against the four-time league champion Ulinzi Stars.

Coastal Union, on the other hand, are set to take on Tabora United, where they will be hoping to register their first win of the season.

The club lost 2-1 to Didoma Jiji in the previous fixture and opened the season with a 1-1 draw against Mtibwa Sugar.
