Head coach Kennedy Odhiambo confirmed that the Dockers will miss the services of Harambee Stars trio Dennis Ng’ang’a, Benjamin “Beja” Nyamawi, and Swaleh Pamba.
The three remain sidelined with injury and health concerns, leaving Bandari short-handed ahead of their first home fixture of the campaign.
Ng’ang’a, a former Gor Mahia defender, has been out since sustaining a thigh injury during the club’s friendly against Tanzanian giants Yanga SC at the annual Siku ya Wanainchi celebrations. He also missed Bandari’s season opener, a barren draw against Kariobangi Sharks.
Captain Benjamin Nyamawi, popularly known as Beja, picked up a knee injury in their clash with Kariobangi Sharks and is doubtful for the weekend.
Odhiambo revealed that the attacker will undergo a late fitness test, though his availability remains uncertain.
As for Pamba, despite being listed among the substitutes against Sharks, he is not expected to feature. The defender has been battling a heart condition diagnosed while in camp with the national team during the 2024 CHAN tournament in August.
“We have three concerns ahead of Sunday. Dennis injured himself during the Yanga clash, Beja is struggling with a knee issue from the Sharks match, and Pamba is still recovering. Hopefully, we can have some positive news by Friday,” Odhiambo explained.
The tactician, formerly with Sofapaka and Nairobi City Stars, issued a rallying call to fans, urging them to emulate Yanga SC’s supporters who filled the stadium during Bandari’s trip to Tanzania.
“I call upon our fans to come out in numbers because we really need them. Their backing can lift us just as Yanga’s fans lifted their team,” he appealed.
Bandari, promoted to the top flight in 2011, are eyeing their first win of the season as they seek to mount an early title challenge.
