The German tactician allegedly requested Leon Goretzka or N'Golo Kante as a midfield reinforcement, but the club denied
The holiday season has started, but Hansi Flick will not find a gift under his Christmas tree. The German has reportedly demanded reinforcement for Barcelona's weakened midfield, embodied in either Leon Goretzka or N'Golo Kante.
However, as per Spanish Sport, the club has rejected Flick's request, as they are totally focused on registering - and at the same time keeping - Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, making that their priority for the upcoming transfer window.
Hansi Flick was clear about his transfer request if there were no financial fair play issues. He wanted the club to sign Goretzka.

Flick's former player and German international Goretzka was the strategist's primary wish, especially since the midfielder is gradually losing his place in Bayern Munich's XI to the 20-year-old Aleksandar Pavlovic. Flick is reportedly more than happy with the young Marc Casado, but injuries and suspensions require additional alternatives.
Moreover, the lack of options on the team has caused Barca's recent spell of bad results, in Flick's opinion, and Goretzka would solve numerous problems in the Catalans' midfield. As an alternative for Goretzka, the Barca boss pointed out N'Golo Kante, currently representing the Saudi Al-Ittihad. Still, in the end, the club took both potential signings off the table.
Barcelona are still struggling to solve their Financial Fair Play issues and register Olmo and Victor before it's too late. Therefore, Flick will spend his holidays "giftless" and can expect some additions only in June.
