That leaves only the legendary Torino FC side of the late 1940s ahead of Bayern on the all-time list
FC Bayern Munich did not manage to accomplish its primary objective this season. No matter how much the club hierarchy insists that winning the domestic double was the main priority, it was obvious that the team from Munich had been built to conquer the UEFA Champions League. Still, despite falling short of that goal, the season will go down as one of the most successful in the club’s history — at least when it comes to attacking efficiency. It had already been known that the Bavarians shattered all previous records for goals scored in a single Bundesliga campaign, but a 5–1 demolition of 1. FC Koln also made them the most prolific team of the 21st century across Europe’s “big five” leagues. On the same day, Bayern surpassed both the 2014/15 and 2011/12 versions of Real Madrid CF.

That leaves only the legendary Torino FC side of the late 1940s ahead of Bayern on the all-time list. The famous Grande Torino team led by Valentino Mazzola scored 125 goals during the 1947/48 season, compared to Bayern’s 122. However, it should be remembered that the Italians played six more matches that year — 40 compared to Bayern’s 34. If the comparison is made by goals-per-game average, Bayern stand at an astonishing 3.58 goals per match, while Torino averaged 3.12. The biggest contributors to Bayern’s 122 goals were the terrifying attacking trio of Michael Olise (15 goals), Harry Kane (36), and Luis Díaz (15). Together, the three forwards scored 66 goals and also combined for 43 assists.
