With qualification scenarios finely balanced, this clash carries significant importance for two former European champions who endured difficult starts to the campaign but have shown signs of recovery. Kick off at 2300 Hrs will hold a lot for both sides.

Juventus are looking to reassert home dominance and edge closer to automatic qualification, while Benfica arrive knowing defeat could seriously damage their hopes of reaching the top 24. Juventus currently sit 17th on nine points, holding a narrow three-point cushion over Benfica, who are 25th with six points and just outside the qualification places.

Juventus come into this fixture on the back of generally positive form despite a shock 1-0 Serie A defeat to Cagliari at the weekend.

That loss ended a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions. Over their last five matches, the Bianconeri have scored 11 goals and conceded just two, highlighting strong defensive stability. In the Champions League, Juventus have picked up back-to-back wins after drawing three of their opening four games.

At home, they have been particularly convincing, scoring at least twice in five of their last six matches at the Allianz Stadium.

Luciano Spalletti will be without Dusan Vlahovic, Arkadiusz Milik and Daniele Rugani, but otherwise has a strong squad available. Jonathan David is expected to lead the line and arrives in good form with two goals and an assist in his last three appearances.

Kenan Yildiz has also been influential, providing assists in consecutive Champions League matchdays, while Weston McKennie continues to contribute from midfield.

Benfica’s campaign has followed a different trajectory. After losing their first four Champions League matches, the Portuguese side have responded with two successive 2-0 victories over Ajax and Napoli to re-enter the qualification picture.

Across their last five matches in all competitions, Benfica have scored eight goals and conceded seven. Their away form is a major positive, with seven wins from their last nine road games, including a 2-0 victory at Rio Ave last weekend.

José Mourinho will have to cope without Alexander Bah, Richard Rios and Dodi Lukebakio, but the core of his squad remains intact.

Vangelis Pavlidis is the key attacking threat, having scored eight goals in his last seven competitive outings, while midfielders Florentino Aursnes and Gianluca Prestianni provide balance and creativity.

Historically, Benfica hold a clear edge in this fixture. The Eagles have won seven of the last nine meetings with Juventus and have claimed victory in each of the last three Champions League encounters, including a 2-0 win in Turin in January 2025.

Head-to-head meetings have also tended to be open, with 75% producing over 2.5 goals.

Key Pointers;

Juventus have scored two or more goals in five of their last six home matches.

Benfica have scored at least twice in eight of their last nine away games.

Four of the last six head-to-head meetings between Juventus and Benfica have produced over 2.5 goals.

With both teams chasing qualification and possessing attacking quality despite defensive imperfections, this fixture shapes up as an open contest.

Juventus’ strong home scoring record and Benfica’s potent away attack suggest chances at both ends, particularly as neither side can afford caution at this stage.

Prediction; Over 2.5 Goals
