The curse is off the Bees - 10th time is the charm; Brentford join Norwich and Watford for the Premier League promotion trio

Year 1947 - people of United Kingdom and the rest of the globe were slowly recovering from World War II - Brentford FC were members of the English football elite.

Year 2021 - people of the world are battling a completely different opponent - coronavirus, trying to live normally and beat the pandemic. Starting today and at least until the end of the upcoming Premier League campaign, the Bees of west London are a Premiership team!

After suffering a ninth failed play-off appearance in the Championship last year - today Brentford became the 50th different club to play in the Premier League. Incredible striker Ivan Toney and Danish manager Thomas Frank brought incredible joy to the small team from Brentford Community Stadium. Brentford defeated Welsh Swansea City 2-0.

After Norwich and Watford secured their comebacks to the elite, Brentford follow them as debutants in the Premier League format that was created in 1992 and they are the 10th side from London to do so.

Championship Playoff winners will have their safe filled with 25 billion KSH + the next season’s TV money and additional income.

Todays showpiece at Wembley Stadium was pretty much sorted in the first 45 minutes. Welsh Swans were behind in the 10th minute when Toney scored from the penalty spot.

Brentford needed an exact amount of time for the second goal as they needed for the opener. However, this one came from a beautiful counter attack converter by Emiliano Marcondes. - two-nil for the Bees in the 20th minute.

It could have been a three-goal lead just a minute later when Toney shook the crossbar with a long range projectile. Luckily for the Welsh team, the ball did not cross the goal line fully.

The only opportunity worth mentioning for the Swans happened seconds before the halftime whistle. Ghanaian Andre Ayew showed good awareness inside the box, he jumped highest but his towering header lacked a little bit of accuracy and just glanced off the crossbar.

Second half started the same way first ended - with a promising header from Ayew lacking accuracy.

But all the dreams of Swansea turning it around crumbled with their defensive midfielder Jay Fulton collecting a red card in the 65th minute. His clumsy tackle resulted with his teammates chasing Brentford numerically impaired.

Frank's squad calmly brought the match to a close and deservedly qualified for the next season of arguably the best football league in the world.

Swansea did not carry themselves well in the closing of the current campaign - they were excellent at the start, losing six games in first 35 matches. However, they managed to lose the same amount in the last 11 games. Talk about fall out in form and their timing couldn't have been worse.

Attendance at Wembley was of almost 12000 of which portion were Bees supporters, so the winners could celebrate their achievement with the fans.
