Sixteen matches are expected to be played this weekend as the lucrative African inter-club tournament gathers steam

Three Kenyans are expected to be in action as the CAF Champions League enters its second preliminary round this weekend across different venues in the continent from Friday.

Brian Mandela, Collins Okumu and Clyde Senaji will hope to get playing time with their respective clubs.

The duo of Okumu and Senaji are attached to Malawian giants Nyasa Big Bullets who are scheduled to play former champions TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Blantyre.

Bullets qualified for the second round after eliminating Dragon FC of Equatorial Guinea in the past round following a 3-0 win on aggregate.

Taking a look at the fixtures taking place this weekend, 2016 champions Mamelodi Sundowns kick things off with a trip to Tanzania to face Bumamuru FC from Burundi in the only fixture scheduled for Friday.

The game will provide a chance for Mandela to contest for playing time despite not featuring on a regular basis in the league assignments.

Mandela clocked full time in Harambee Stars 1-0 defeat to South Sudan on Tuesday at the Kasarani Stadium.

He also tasted action in Stars 2-1 win over Qatar last week.

A feast of African football awaits on Saturday with a number of fixtures lined-up across the continent.

In other exiting fixtures set for this weekend will see Tanzanian giants Simba and Yanga Power Dynamos and Al-Merrikh respectively.

In Tunisia, Etoile Sportive du Sahel play host to Morocco’s AS FAR in a tough north African duel.

On Sunday, 2013 runners-up, Orlando Pirates travel to neighboring country, Botswana to face Jwaneng Galaxy in what could be a tricky encounter for the South Africans against a spirited Galaxy side out to cause an upset.

Former champions and last season’s runners-up, Wydad Athletic Club travel to Conakry, Guinea to face Hafia FC, who will be looking at getting a result at home before travelling up north.

In Libya, Al Ahly Benghazi welcome Ivorian powerhouse, Asec Mimosas who are looking at reclaiming their number one spot on the continent after last lifting the continental title in 1998.

The first leg rounds of the second preliminary stage concludes with an interesting tie between current champions, Al Ahly, who will be fresh from the CAF Super Cup to face Saint George in Ethiopia.
