The center back was last week among a group of six players that arrived from Equatorial Guinea - where the tie’s first leg was held - with a flu.

Kenyan international Clyde Senaji and his side - Nyasa Big Bullets - will be featuring in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after securing a 1-0 home win over Dragon FC at the Bingu National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The center back was named in the team's starting lineup and ended up clocking full minutes, helping Big Bullets achieve some piece of history they hadn't tasted since 2015.

Bullets came into the game carrying a 2-0 advantage from the first leg away from home on 20 August, and got the all decisive goal from Ephraim Kondowe, who came off the bench to lurch onto a Patrick Mwaungulu pass in the 67th minute, making the aggregate score 3-0.

Senaji was last week among a group of six players that arrived from Equatorial Guinea - where the tie’s first leg was held - with a flu.

Early team news to Sunday’s game indicated that he, Mwaungulu, Kondowe, Frank Willard, Kesten Simbi and McFallen Mgwira were under medication to make it in time for the second leg.

Ultimately, Senaji was involved, and having recovered from a previous stress fracture, led Bullets to the memorable win.

With the victory, The Peoples Team will now progress to the second round of the competition - where they are expected to face Democratic Republic of Congo’s TP Mazembe in the second preliminary round mid September.

Big Bullets next assignment in the Malawian league is against Civil Service United on Wednesday 30 August at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
