The declaration from the former Nairobi Stima loanee came despite the playing having never played in the top flight before

Nairobi City Stars attacking midfielder Rowland Makati has declared a bold statement of intent as the player continues his wait for a debut in the top flight Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).

Halfway through the current 2021/2022 season, the youngster has made the matchday squad only once – against KCB – but is still yet to make his debut in the top tier as he ended up being up an unused substitute as the team lost 0-1 to the Bankers.

Having been the first signing at the club when Simba wa Kanairo earned promotion back to the top league after winning the National Super league (NSL) back in the 2019/2020 season, Makati spent the entire 2020/21 season on loan at the now-defunct NSL side Nairobi Stima.

While the wait for a top flight rendezvous goes on, a confident Makati did not hesitate to state what he will do should he just land the first chance.

“The season is going on very well for the team. Everyone is at their best and the competition for positions is really stiff. I am not about to lose focus because of the competition. I am focused and I know that my time (to play) will come. And when that day comes, I will not let go, it will be hard to bump me off the team,” the player is quoted on the club’s website.

Makati was signed from division one side Vapor Sports who had acquired him from Gatina-based Escalators FC.

He led Dagoretti Mixed High School to the coveted Nairobi Region Chapa Dimba title at Jamhuri High School back in February 2020.

Over the weekend, the young player will continue with his quest for a top flight feature as his second placed side take on Bidco United at Thika Stadium.
