Clarke Oduor was impressive in the 2-1 win against Rochdale and impressed further in the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, this time capping his fantastic display with a goal to seal Barnsley's victory.

Kenyan international Clarke Oduor came off the bench to score as his team Barnsley beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 in the second friendly ahead of the new season.

He was making his second appearance from the bench after featuring for 45 minutes in the previous pre-season game against Rochdale where he was terrific with the ball and gave the opposing defenders a hard time.

Markus Schopp rang the substitutions at the second half, changing the whole team with Oduor being part of the 11 that were entrusted to do duty in the final 30 minutes.

His effort and brilliance paid off just 10 minutes after he was brought in as he was on the end of a beautiful Barnsley interplay to slot in the second goal.

The Kenyan went past two Wednesday players before playing some beautiful one-two football with Cameron Thompson before slotting home to extend Barnsley's lead to 2-0.

The 22-year old Oduor almost grabbed his brace and Barnsley's third at the death after yet another scintillating show that saw George Miller's deep cross headed down for him by Ben Williams, but the former Leeds United U23 saw his shot deflects comfortably for Wednesday's goalkeeper to gather.

The Reds had opened the scoring just 22 minutes in the game when Jordan Williams caught Wednesday's custodian off his line and had a shot at goal from more than 20 yards to score a screamer.

This was the second game in charge for Markus Schopp who joined the club from the Austrian side TSV Hartberg where he had managed since 2018 following the departure of Valérien Ismaël to West Brom, with the first being a 2-1 win against Rochdale three days ago.

Oduor made the most of his rare playing time as he impressed yet again, this time with a goal and his explosive runs and incisive passing throughout the half-hour that he featured.
