Los Blancos are about to tie down Lunin after his magnificent performances this season. They face Bilbao tonight (10 pm)
Real Madrid are about to face Athletic Bilbao in the penultimate game of this La Liga round on Sunday night.
However, the main topic is not the match itself but the story of Andriy Lunin's contract extension. According to football expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are closing in on a renewal agreement with Lunin.

Real want Lunin to stay and be part of their project, even if they wait for Courtois as n1 GK again from next season.

This season, Lunin has definitely established himself as a first-choice keeper at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 25-year-old arrived in the Spanish capital in 2018 but struggled to find his place between the sticks with Thibaut Courtois dominating. However, with the Belgian missing the entirety of the current campaign, he has made his presence felt.
The Ukrainian has been undisputed No.1 since December. Kepa Arrizabalaga joined the Royals to replace Courtois last year but went down the pecking order, with Lunin playing at a very high level.
Lunin's current contract ends in 2025, and Courtois should return for the start of the next season. However, if the Ukrainian signs a new deal with the Spanish powerhouse, the Belgian could be saying farewell because of his long-term successor.
