Dortmund lose both Sabitzer and derby to Leipzig

The former Manchester United midfielder left the pitch after just 33 minutes due to a severe knee injury. BVB lost 2-0

It went from bad to worse for Borussia Dortmund.

They will be facing Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals that is around the corner, but BVB are painfully struggling in Bundesliga this season.

Niko Kovac's side lost to RB Leipzig 2-0 on Saturday night, thanks to Lois Openda's and Xavi Simons' goals despite being the dominant team.

However, that's not the only thing they should worry about since experienced midfielder Marcel Sabitzer suffered a severe knee injury and was assisted off the pitch before the half-time break.

Sabitzer collided with his compatriot and Austria teammate Christoph Baumgartner. The ex-Manchester United player left the pitch in tears, and according to the first information provided by the German media, he will be out for a long time, maybe even until the end of the season.

If Eintracht beat Bochum on Sunday, Dortmund would be ten points away from fourth place with eight games to go. Moreover, Borussia will face Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen away, and face off with Freiburg and Mainz, contenders for Bundesliga top 4.

That is a hell of a challenge in prospect, isn't it?
