Finally a win for Germany, Mbappe remained on the bench for France

This was only the second win for Germany in the last seven games

Was it because it was only a friendly game, or because Rudi Voller was on the bench, or because it was the French, in any case, the German national team finally won the match after seven attempts. As hosts in the next year's EURO 2024, Germany is not playing in qualifications, but only friendly matches. Still, for the recently sacked coach Hansi Flick, even winning the friendly match was a problem. Since March 2023, Germany played seven games and managed only two wins, against Peru and tonight against France 2-1. Defeats against Poland, Columbia, Belgium and Japan were enough for German football federation to make a change and Rudi Voller stepped in tonight and brought a much needed confidence boost victory over World Cup runners-up France.

Will Voller remain the manager or not is another question, but a win is a win. He made some changes and instead of Josua Kimmich, who was moved to the bench, Benjamin Henrichs started at left back while Jonathan Tah replaced Schlotterbeck. Thomas Muller came back to the starting lineup instead of Havertz and the veteran gave the Germans an early lead. It was fourth minute when Sane began the action with Wirtz and Muller was there to finish it. The hosts kept on attacking in the first half, but the score remained the same. Coman was the most dangerous for France and Griezmann had a great chance but ter Stegen was there to save the lead. In a strange desion buy France manager Deschamps, Kylian Mbappe was the unused substitute in this game. And then Sane crowned his good display with a goal for a 2-0 lead. But just two minutes later the same player brought down Camavinga and gave France the penalty. Griezmann was precise from the spot, but it was too late for anything else but a defeat.
