The final round will see Zoo face off with Luanda at the latter's backyard
Zoo FC consolidated their position at the top of Football Kenya Federation division one Zone B table with a 1-0 victory over GDC Nakuru in a match played at Kericho Green Stadium.
However, Luanda Villa stayed hot on their heels with a 2-1 win over Bondo United.
Danson Kiprono scored the lone goal as Zoo extended their winning run to nine league matches to set up a final day crunch match against Luanda Villa who got the better part of Bondo United in Siaya.
Moses Masinde and Brian Bett were on the score sheet as Villa came from a goal down to overpower Bondo on their own backyard to keep pressure on zoo, with two points separating them heading into the final game of the season at Mumboha Stadium, Luanda.
Ramadhan Balala's Green Commandos hopes of securing a return to the second tier hit a snag as Commandos fell 2-1 in Kitale to Transfoc FC. The results meant that the former NSL side move six points adrift of first placed Zoo FC with one round left.
Elsewhere, Victor Haki and Ian Nyongesa were on the scoreboard as Nyota FC bounced back with a three-nil victory over the Panthers Sunderland Keroche in a match played at Mumias Complex.
In Zone A, promotion quest took a new twist as Young Bulls dropped out of the green zone for the first time this season. Three quick goals from 3K FC were enough to silence Ali Gaucho’s side in a match played at Kagumori Grounds Embu.
Nairobi United got into the top two in style humiliating Kibera Soccer five goals to one and leapfrog Bulls on goal difference as we approach the final round of matches.
Red hot Ian Mutanda scored a brace with Brian Lisamukha, Rodgers Oporia and Isaac Onweri all on target to put their side in a pole position for National Super League promotion playoffs.
At Gems Cambridge, Rainbow FC humbled Vapor Sports 4-0 to book a spot in next season's second tier. Mathematically, Rainbow are already promoted on goal difference even if Nairobi United win their last game of the season against EPZ Balaji.
Dulmant Mustapha scored in his third consecutive game as trio of Tyron Kariuki, Steiner Musasia and Victor Eshitushe also got their names on the score board.
