Newly appointed Football Kenya Federation (FKF) interim CEO Patrick Korir has expressed his desire and vision for a gradual transition after his first day in office.
Korir was appointed as the interim CEO and General Secretary on Tuesday 8 October following the resignation of Barry Otieno who exited Kandanda House after eight years, five of which he served as CEO.
In a video posted by FKF on their social media handles, the Nairobi City Stars CEO said that he will first put more focus on understanding everyone's role at the federation.
“How things have been done will continue for now. If there is going to be any changes, it is going to be very gradual. There are timelines for what we need to achieve and that can only be elaborate once I get to meet everyone and understand their roles and that begins today,” said Korir.
The seasoned statistician also promised that there are going to be minimal changes in operations even as he takes over at a time when the federation’s elections are nearing.
“I can chip in with ideas here and there if need be but otherwise it is going to be a seamless operation as possible,” he said.
The former scribe who was received by FKF President Nick Mwendwa in his new office also shared a glimpse of what his first day at work looked like.
“On day one, my assignment today was just orientation. To get used to this seat, meet the staff and the departmental heads and get to understand what they're doing,” he added.
Korir who is a close ally of Mwendwa will be tasked to lead the federation's secretariat with an aim of making positive strides in Kenyan football.
It is not yet clear as to what circumstances led to the resignation of Barry Otieno who has been a confidant of Mwendwa since he took office in 2016.
