Ibrahim Joshua’s first-half strike proved decisive, halting the Brewers’ three-match winless run and delivering new coach Julien Mette his first taste of maximum points since taking charge last week.

The match carried significant stakes for both sides.

Tusker, having dropped ground in the title race, sought to bounce back after consecutive losses to Mathare United and Shabana FC.

Muranga Seal, meanwhile, were eager to respond to last weekend’s heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at the hands of Bandari FC, aiming to keep their FKF Premier League ambitions alive.

The opening stages of the match were cagey, with both sides carefully feeling each other out.

Tusker registered the first chance in the seventh minute when Erick Kapaito connected with a well-placed delivery from Collins Odhiambo, only for his header to skim over the bar.

Minutes later, a perfectly weighted cross from Stephen Etyang found Eugen Ikutwa, but his effort narrowly missed the target.

Muranga Seal threatened for the first time through Joseph Waithera, whose pace and sharp positioning forced a spectacular reflex save from Tusker goalkeeper Brandon Obiero.

Just after the half hour mark, Seal’s Osama Ochieng combined with Waithera to create another opportunity, but his shot agonizingly missed the target.

Tusker’s persistence paid off in the 26th minute.

A lofted delivery from Etyang found Tanzanian striker Joshua, who made no mistake in heading home a perfectly timed opener.

Muranga Seal came close to an equalizer two minutes before the hour mark, with Waithera attempting a volley past Obiero, but the Tusker custodian made a solid catch to keep his side ahead.

The Brewers continued to dominate the opening half, nearly doubling their lead on several occasions.

Charles Momanyi narrowly failed to meet a free-kick from Etyang, while David Polepole was denied a clear chance by a last-ditch goal-line clearance from Dennis Munyovi.

Even Kapaito, presented with a golden opportunity from a whipped delivery by Odhiambo, misjudged his shot and was denied by the alert Ongiri in goal.

The second half opened at a higher tempo, with both sides probing for openings.

Tusker went close six minutes into the half through Kapaito, whose flying header from Ian Simiyu’s delivery was brilliantly saved by Muranga Seal goalkeeper Erick Ongiri.

Seal responded immediately through midfielder Thadeus Kiach, whose fierce strike narrowly missed the target.

Tusker nearly punished Seal on the counter, with Joshua’s effort blocked by Paul Ngugi, but Muranga Seal gradually gained momentum, dominating large spells of the second half.

Victor Haki, Michael Macharia, and Mike Mwaniki all came close to leveling, yet Tusker’s defensive resilience and Obiero’s goalkeeping kept them at bay.

Second-half substitutes Vincent Otieno and Michael Owen also failed to convert crucial chances for their respective sides.

Despite Muranga Seal’s relentless pressure in the closing stages, Tusker held firm to secure a vital three points.

The win lifted the Brewers to seventh place on 31 points, crossing the 30-point mark for the first time this season and providing a morale boost under coach Julien Mette.

For Muranga Seal, the loss marked back-to-back defeats and a significant setback in their quest for a maiden FKF Premier League title.

Stalement in Mbaraki

Elsewhere at Mbaraki Stadium, hosts Bandari FC were held to a 1-1 draw by league debutants Nairobi United.

Goals from Amza Ngamchia and Benson Omalla in the first half ensured the spoils were shared.

The draw saw Bandari, now unbeaten in three, move to sixth on the log, while Naibois jumped into the top half in ninth.
