Jermaine Pennant was at the top of the world once. But those days are long gone...

It was 7 May 2003, and after years of waiting, talented Jermaine Pennant finally got his chance to start for Arsenal in the Premier League. That day, the Gunners tarnished Southampton 6-1, and the promising winger scored his first and last EPL hat-trick.

Moreover, he never ever netted for Arsenal as problems off the pitch emerged, with Arsene Wenger losing patience with the capricious player. A permanent move to Birmingham City followed, and decent performances during that season earned him a move to another English great, Liverpool.

Pennant even played the Champions League final with the Scousers (2-0 loss to AC Milan), but after leaving Anfield in 2009, his career took nothing but the wrong direction.

Today, he's completely broke.

Jermaine Pennant has been declared bankrupt after accumulating debts of over £1 million, according to reports.

The former midfielder is now understood to have defaulted on his mortgage payments.

Pennant's autobiography, "Mental: Bad Behaviour, Ugly Truths and the Beautiful Game", was released in 2018 and it revealed all the things he has been doing over the years, including his spending spree habits, avoiding paying taxes and all sorts of inappropriate behaviour that saw him losing tens of millions. Meanwhile, he was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother and opened up a profile on the Onlyfans platform with his ex-wife. However, not even that could save him from accumulated debts.
