Nyawir has been one of Mathare’s standout performers since his arrival, quickly establishing himself as a key attacking outlet with his direct running, pace, and creativity from the left flank.

His form has not gone unnoticed, prompting the club to move swiftly and secure his long-term future.

In an official statement released across their digital platforms, Mathare United confirmed that the winger had committed his future to the club for a further two years.

Two more years of marauding runs down the left flank. We are happy to confirm that John Nyawir has extended his contract to 2028,” the club announced.

Mathare have also tied down forward David Okoth to a further two-year contract.

The decision signals the club’s commitment to retaining a settled core as they seek to improve performances and results in the second half of the campaign.

Under the guidance of head coach John Kamau, the club has also been active in the transfer market, bringing in a blend of experience and youth to bolster their squad.

Among the notable arrivals are: former Nairobi United winger Isaac Omweri, ex-Tusker FC and KCB forward Michael Oduor, and 2016 FKF-PL 'Golden Boot' winner John Mark Makwata, formerly of Bandari FC.

Mathare have further strengthened their ranks with the signings of Adams Nyambane from Nairobi United, attacking midfielder Douglas Mokaya from Shabana FC, and a youthful trio comprising Bilal Atano alongside Musingu High School duo Harrison Amalemba and Benso Shikutwa.

The recruitment drive is aimed at improving on last season’s 10th-place finish, where Mathare ended the campaign with 42 points, while also ensuring the club steers clear of the relegation battle that has threatened their early progress this season.
