The former Kariobangi Sharks winger has already registered eight goal involvements, scoring four times and providing a similar number of assists, a form that earned him the league's October Player of the Month award
Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor has revealed the tactical and psychological adjustments that have transformed winger Shariff Musa into one of the club’s most dangerous attacking weapons this season.
Speaking to Azam TV following Gor Mahia’s emphatic 3–1 victory over Ulinzi Stars, the Ghanaian tactician explained that Musa’s development has been the product of deliberate coaching and detailed analysis.

Akonnor revealed that upon his arrival at the club at the start of the campaign, the technical bench quickly identified Musa’s raw talent and explosive pace but felt the winger lacked the necessary decisiveness in the final third.
According to the 54-year-old former Ghana national football team captain, the coaching staff held several discussions with the attacker to refine his decision-making and improve his attacking output.
A key part of that transformation has been through consistent video analysis sessions designed to help Musa better his efficiency in the final third.
Akonnor said the player responded positively to the process.
“He has been good, not just today. When we came in, we realised he was talented but not purposeful,” Akonnor explained.
“We spoke to him and gave him time to improve. We did a lot of video analysis with him so he could see exactly what he needed to do. He is a smart boy and he processed it very well, and now he is even a national team player.”
The impact of that guidance is now evident.
Since Akonnor took charge of the Kenyan giants, Musa has become a regular starter and a key figure in the club’s attacking line.
The former Kariobangi Sharks winger has already registered eight goal involvements, scoring four times and providing a similar number of assists, a form that earned him the league's October Player of the Month award.
His influence was again on display on Sunday, 15 March at Ulinzi Sports Complex as Gor Mahia dispatched Ulinzi Stars.
Musa played a decisive role in the opening goal after winning a penalty that was calmly converted by Enock Morrison.
He later contributed to the build-up of the second goal, delivering a teasing low cross that allowed Patrick Essombe to double K'Ogalo's advantage before capping off a superb performance with a sumptuous volley to seal the victory.
The win ensured Gor Mahia maintained their firm grip at the top of the league table with 53 points, opening a commanding 10-point gap over arch-rivals AFC Leopards, who sit second on 43 points in the title race.
