Gor Mahia, Sharks clash after fortnight break with unbeaten status at stake

Having profited from a two-week league break, Gor Mahia and Kariobangi Sharks will renew their rivalry as both teams will have their unbeaten start to the season at stake.
The record league champions and the 2018 FKF Cup champions were scheduled to face Mathare United and Wazito FC in alternating fixtures but the two were initially barred from featuring due to a court order.
K’Ogalo have a 100% start to the season still intact after recording wins over Bidco United and Nzoia Sugar but have a six-point deficit against table toppers and reigning champions Tusker FC.
Sharks on the other hand commenced their season with a two-all draw against FC Talanta and followed that up with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Ulinzi Stars.
Gor Mahia will be boosted by the return of Gad Mathews in goal after picking up an injury in the league opener against Bidco United as he hopes to return with a victory for the side.
“I’m glad to be back in the team, this will be my second game of the season and I hope I will mark my return with a victory and a clean sheet.
Sharks is a side I know well after featuring for them and I know it will be a difficult game because they have also had a good start to the season,” said Gad.
William Muluya will be looking to shore up his defense after shipping four goals in their opening two games of the season but their attack has been sharp, netting five goals thus far.
Sharks have been a bogey team for Gor Mahia since earning promotion to the top flight back in 2017 as they have picked up four wins in 13 league encounters coupled with a number of cup wins.
