Losing El Clasico must produce a strong reaction from the team, says former Manchester City captain
Ilkay Gundogan expressed his disappointment with his Barcelona teammates for their lack of emotion following their 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in injury-time on Sunday. The former Manchester City midfielder had opened the scoring for Barca within six minutes, marking his first goal for the club. However, Real Madrid fought back into the game, with England's Jude Bellingham delivering a stunning long-range equalizer in the 68th minute.
Bellingham didn't stop there, as he then netted a 92nd-minute winner, securing a valuable three points for Real Madrid on the road. This result allowed Real Madrid to regain the top spot in La Liga from Girona, with Barcelona now trailing by four points in third place.

Gundogan took the defeat to heart and believed that some of his teammates did not react to the loss with the intensity he desired. He sees this as a "problem" that the club needs to address if they intend to remain competitive in the title race this season. Asked about how much the result hurt Barcelona mentally, the German international indirectlly criticised his teammates.
"I have to be honest, not as much as I wish. Because I don’t want to say something wrong to be honest, but I was in the dressing and of course people are disappointed but especially after such a big game and such a result, I wish more frustration, more anger and more disappointment. This is a little bit the problem. I don’t know, there has to be more emotion, especially when you lose and you know you can perform better and do better in certain situations and you just don’t react and this just transfers to the pitch at the end of the day.
The man who won the UEFA Champions League, five Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups with Manchester City -- including a historic Treble last season -- doesn't want to stop winning just because he joined another club.
"We need to make a huge step in that otherwise Real Madrid or even Girona is going to run away. I didn’t come here to lose these types of games or to let that gap create. There’s also a responsibility from myself, from a more experienced player, to not allow the squad to just let things happen, we need resistance."
