Gunners in desperate need of some midfield ammunition

Likes of Ramsey and Cazorla would be more than welcome to Arteta's squad
Arsenal attacking department in struggling. Goals provided from Lacazette, Aubameyang, Martinelli and Balogun are a rarity and for the team to score, more often or not, players from other positions have to chip in. In this ever-lasting transitional period for Arteta's team - a midfielder that will score on a regular basis could boost Arsenal chances of returning to the top of English football.
Glimpses of such an approach can be seen with contributions of their own academy players Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe. Amazing youngsters are making more of an impact than some more experienced and more famous footballers within team's ranks.
Martin Odergaard might impose as that midfield link and if his statistics rise, it could be bring that much needed shift for the whole attacking philosophy of the north Londoners.
In short, what the team need is a reincarnation of Welshman Aaron Ramsey. Or maybe the little Spanish magician Santi Cazorla.
Ramsey left Emirates Stadium in 2019 and during his 11-year spell he scored 64 goals - including two FA Cup Final winners.
Ramsey's Arsenal career was slowed down by injuries. However, when he did play he was often a huge goal threat from that midfield section of the pitch.
Ramsey developed a reputation of scoring in the big moments with a combination of intelligent movement and slick finishing. His goals in FA Cup finals over Hull and Chelsea in 2014 and 2017 are pure examples of his style and impact.
If you compare the Welsh footballer with Arsenal current midfield options - Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Dani Ceballos and Mohamed Elneny - difference when it comes to that offensive approach is obvious. The present midfield lot combined a damning statistic of just two Premier League goals this season.
Who are the ones that could bring that threat from the background? Making those runs and collecting crosses - sent not close to the goal but more to the back - at the edge of the box? Several options present themselves.
The 26-year-old Udinese captain, Rodrigo de Paul, would be the perfect candidate. The Argentine can add both goals and assists and can often be seen arriving late into the box with a blindside run before coolly slotting it past goalkeepers.
In 35 Serie A games, De Paul has chipped in with an impressive nine goals and nine league assists to help Udinese save themselves from relegation this season.
He managed astonishing 162 shot-creating actions throughout his domestic campaign - no Arsenal player has managed more than 96.
Another Serie A midfielder that has all the abilities to imitate Ramsey's Emirates presence is Roma's captain Lorenzo Pellegrini.
More than able to act as a traditional number 10, he is also comfortable as a box-to-box midfielder.
The 24-year-old Italian scored 10 times and added nine assists across Roma' s this year's campaigns locally and on European stage. As far as shot-creating actions go, Pellegrini has 125.
Now we go to east Germany where RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer imposes as an interesting target.
The Austrian has been repeatedly linked with Arsenal's archrivals Tottenham, but if the Gunners want to sabotage their foes and strengthen their attacking midfield they should try and tempt Sabitzer to join the red half of North London.
Sabitzer found the back of the net eight times in Bundesliga during the closing term and has assisted his teammates on a further five occasions across domestic league and their Champions League action.
Sitting slightly deeper than De Paul, Sabitzer often controls the game by spraying diagonal passes to Leipzig's attacking full-backs. Something Arsenal already have in the form of Xhaka.
However, the midfield partnership between the Ghanaian Partey and Sabitzer is something Gunner supporters would love to witness.
Similar to Pellegrini, Sabitzer has just 12 months left on his current deal which could help the Gunners in terms of price negotiations if they do attempt to sign the 27-year-old Austrian.
