Kenya departed for Zambia on Wednesday morning and will feature in the mini tournament alongside Zimbabwe, Lesotho and the hosts for the friendly series, which will be held from Saturday, 6 to Tuesday, 9 June at the Levi Mwanawasa Stadium.

Prior to the tourney, Starlets pitched camp at the Kasarani Annex to sharpen their skills ahead of the series under the guidance of the Beldine Odemba-led technical bench.

Speaking from their training base, Kenya Police Bullets FC custodian Kundu chose to view the friendlies using the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) lenses.

“The friendlies will be so important for our WAFCON preparations as they will help us know exactly where we are.

Training has been good. We started on a low but we have been improving with each day of training. The mood in camp is great. Everyone is psyched up as they know what brought them here, which makes it easier,” said Kundu.

Her sentiments were echoed by Odemba, who admits the friendlies could not have come at a better time.

“The friendlies are meant to be a build-up for WAFCON, and it is good that we are participating in this window,” said Odemba.

The former Mathare United assistant coach is hoping that Kenya will be paired against competitive opposition in the tourney.

“We shall travel to Zambia to play the tournament, and hopefully we will get two good teams, as we can only play two teams. We are all in a good mood and are looking forward to receiving more international players in camp,” she stated.
