The group looks almost similar to the 2023 edition where Kenya sat out due to a FIFA suspension as they were also drawn against Cameroon and Namibia.
Harambee Stars have landed a favourable draw in the qualifiers of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) that is set to be hosted in Morocco from December 2025 to January 2026.
Kenya was drawn in Group J alongside Zimbabwe, Namibia and five time AFCON winner Cameroon.
The group looks almost similar to the 2023 edition where Kenya sat out due to a FIFA suspension as they were also drawn against Cameroon and Namibia.
The Warriors of Zimbabwe also missed the 2023 edition of the tournament after they were locked out of the qualifiers following a FIFA suspension due to government involvement in their federation.
Kenya and Zimbabwe have met twice this year both in the Four Nations Tournament and the COSAFA Cup where Kenya emerged victorious on both occasions.
Another interesting match up in the group will see Kenya face Namibia after the Southern Africa nation pulled out of hosting the 2027 AFCON alongside Botswana which was later awarded to Kenya and her neighbours Uganda and Tanzania.
The draw which was taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa included a total of 48 teams which saw teams seeded according to latest FIFA Rankings issued on 20 June 2024.
The 12 Groups of four teams (Group A to L), will see the first and runners-up in the eleven (11) groups that do not involve tournament hosts Morocco gain qualification to the competition.
The qualifiers start in September 2025 and end in November 2025 in what will mark the fastest ever qualifiers for the tournament.
