The 21-year-old received a pass on the half-turn, before unleashing a delightful curler into the far corner to get his team on the board
Harambee Stars midfielder Zech Obiero on Friday, 17 April picked his first individual accolade at English side Tranmere Rovers, after being voted as the EFL League Two goal of the month winner.

Obiero, who is on loan at Rovers from League One side Leyton Orient, warded off competition from Fleetwood Town’s Mark Helm, Newport County’s Bobby Kamwa and Crewe Alexandra’s Reece Hutchinson, to see his curling strike against Oldham Athletic on 7 March take the top prize.
Seemingly running away from goal and to the corner flag in the third minute of stoppage time, Obiero collected a pass from Omari Patrick just inside the box, turned, and unleashed a fine curler into the far corner, which went in off the post.

The goal, which only served as consolation in the 3-1 defeat, was his second in Rovers’ colors, having joined the side in January.
"Thank you to all the Tranmere fans who voted for me to win this award, it means a lot,” Obiero told the club website on Friday. “It’s been a tough few months for us, but we’re fully focused on doing what we need to do in the last four games to keep the Club in the division."
To getting the award, Obiero’s goal also had to satisfy a panel of experts among them EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman, who could not stop himself from appreciating its technique.
“There was so much to like about Zech Obiero’s goal against Oldham,” Goodman, who sat alongside David Prutton in the panel, said. “Shaped as if he was running away from goal, a smart Cruyff turn bought him a yard, and the curling finish into the top corner was sublime.”
The 21-year-old, after the goal, went on to cap an unforgettable month with a goal and assist in a pair of international friendlies for Harambee Stars, with the latter coming on his senior national team debut against Estonia on 27 March.
Obiero will now hope to use the award as fuel for Tranmere, as they seek to secure League Two survival.
With four games left to the end of the season, Tranmere find themselves a point above the relegation zone in 20th, and are winless in their last 11 matches.
