Maddison, Choudhury and Perez were at the party and broke Covid-19 protocol

What a mistake, what an irresponsible behavior! While Leicester is in a tight fight for the Champions League spot, it’s influential players are missing games because they are partying. It sounds unbelievable, but it’s true: James Maddison, Jose Perez Hamza Choudhury all missed the game with from West Ham because they organized a party and broke Covid-19 protocol. What’s even worse, their team lost the game with the Hammers, and Maddison and Perez are regulars in the first team.

The trio were not included in Leicester’s squad for the West Ham game after they breached Covid-19 regulations by attending a gathering following the defeat to Manchester City last Saturday. Maddison, Choudhury and Perez, who hosted the party, have not been fined by Leicester and will be available for their side’s FA Cup semi-final against Southampton next Sunday.

The club has made its expectations around adherence to COVID-19 protocols abundantly clear to all its personnel. We wholly expect our people to behave in a way that reflects the national effort and the sacrifices made by our communities to control the spread of the virus. ‘Those involved have apologized for their poor judgement. Our response to the matter will be concluded internally“ said the official statement.

The head coach Brandan Rodgers was also disappointed with the behavior of it’s players and explained that the omission from the squad was his call.

It was a decision I made, an internal situation last weekend, It is not the standard we expect. They are all good guys, good lads, but we have a standard on and off the pitch that we have to adhere to. The boys will rejoin the group after this game. It’s internal, it’s something we have dealt with. The boys, it’s disappointing behavior, it’s a mistake. It’s not what we are about. We have a set of values for the team, for this football club. The players in the main have been great, but they will rejoin the group next week“ explained Rodgers after the match.

One can only think if this defeat will come back to haunt Leicester and those three players. Last season, The Foxes missed the Champions League spot in the last round, after a defeat from Manchester United.
